On the Purpose of Polemics – Encouraging Discoveries
I found this in a comment from a quiet supporter of Pastor Gideon C Boateng on YouTube.
“Pastor Gideon, this is the first time I’m commenting on one of your video posts, but I have been subscribed to and enjoyed your channel for a good while now, and very much appreciate this good work of the Lord through you. God bless you for upholding the integrity of the gospel and the Scriptures. If ever apologetics and polemics were needed in the African Church, t’is now. The rate at which ancient heresies are rearing their ugly heads again is alarming. It is very necessary that public statements like this, which are categorically false, be publicly called out and addressed, so that the minister of God would get the opportunity to recant the false and learn and assimilate the true, and the people of God will learn and be edified, and know that all believers are subject and bound to that sole infallible source of authority for our faith and practice – Scripture. I sincerely hope it is a misspeak by apostle Suleiman, and he comes out to retract and recant the statement rather than seek to justify it (and himself thereby).
May the Lord continue to preserve you in your work, and may He glorify Himself by it! God bless you sir.”
Pastor Gideon C Boateng‘s videos are gaining significant traction, with positive comments and a receptive audience.
It’s intriguing how people eagerly anticipate his responses to emerging issues.
His video of the recent attack on Apostle Paul by Apostle Johnson Suleman has reached 20,516 views (for those interested in results)
Upon stumbling across various platforms, I’ve witnessed the profound impact our brother is making, bringing blessings and becoming a voice for the voiceless.
While the average Charismatic individual might prefer silence on errors, it seems too late for that now.
Some Prominent pastors have taken note of him, with some may show more caution in their remarks, aware that their careless words won’t go unchallenged.
There’s a misconception that Churches engaging in Polemics fail to thrive, which is untrue. Protestantism, born out of Apologetics and Polemics, is a prime example. Figures like Martin Luther actively confronted the Catholic Church, rather than remaining passive.
Christian Apologetics and Polemics hold great significance. If not for these movements, many non-Catholic churches wouldn’t exist today. They owe their existence to the boldness of individuals who didn’t stay silent. Speaking against these practices now would be hypocritical, given that they birthed the modern church landscape.
Let’s do more of this! Jesus praised the Ephesian Church for testing those who claimed to be Apostles and exposing them as liars. Why shouldn’t we do the same? Jesus didn’t commend an individual, but an entire Church. We need an army willing to stand up for the gospel. It would make we who are preachers more vigilant, knowing the Church will not just tolerate anything.
Beloved, imagine 10 years ahead. Considering your current attitude and idolization of your Papas, where would the Church stand? The next victim of sexual abuse could be your daughter, son, or wife, and you may find yourself seeking help from Auntie Naa’s successor to expose a false prophet(profit) pretending to be a pastor, a fraud(pistol) pretending to be a pastor, a deceiver(Tickster) pretending to be a teacher, and an apostate pretending to be an Apostle!
